Biography
Ethan Rivers is a music and film score composer, audio producer, and instrumentalist located in New York. His musical influences span the genres of classical, rock, electronic, and ambient styles. He has also been composing music and studying music theory for over half a decade. As an instrumentalist, he is proficient in the clarinet, piano, and drums/percussion. Ethan specializes in composing musical works in many genres, by interweaving combinations of strings, brass, woodwinds, keyboards, and electronics to create unique musical soundscapes. Furthermore, he composes music for a variety of mediums which include short films, games, concert music, and studio album releases. The studio works feature a blending of musical genres including orchestral, ambient, and electronic/experimental works. All of his music has been independently composed, played and programmed using both digital instruments and self-recorded samples. Moreover, all of his music is independently released under his own label, 'Ethan Rivers Music'.
Ethan released his debut orchestral album titled 'Emergence' in 2019 (August), marking his debut release as a composer. Consequently, in 2020 (June), he released his debut single release, 'A Time For Us', showcasing an intimate and emotional sound palette. This release was followed by his second single titled 'Heart of Winter', released in 2021 (February). Later that same year, the composer released his second album titled 'Watercolors' in September. The album features a mix of genres including a orchestral, ambient, and experimental influences. His debut orchestral extended play (EP) titled 'Lifelines' was released in 2022 (August). Currently, he is working on more film projects along with more studio album releases. In addition, the composer is also working on more concert pieces, including an orchestral piece, and clarinet trio. He previously wrote 'Autumn Antique' for clarinet quartet and is finishing up 'Off the Rails' scored for saxophone quartet and piano. He is currently studying Music Composition and Theory at Nazareth University in Rochester, New York.
When he is not composing or performing music, he enjoys running, writing poems, short stories, and lyrics for songs. In addition, he also enjoys photography and graphic design, which includes the designs for all of his studio album covers and graphics.
